Dog

Pronunciation:
yawrk-ee-ton
Breed Description:

The Yorkie-ton breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Yorkshire Terrier with the Coton de Tulear.  Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next.  Generally, the Yorkie-ton will have qualities of both parents.  They are a toy sized breed of dog with a slightly longer body than they are tall. They usually have the more delicate look of the Yorkshire Terrier but they have the robust look of the Coton de Tular.  The head is usually slightly flat with a small delicate muzzle with small, folded ears that hang forward.  The tail is usually long but is commonly cropped like the Yorkshire Terrier parent.

The coat is usually long with a silky texture and a soft, short undercoat.  They can be found in any of the colors of their parent breeds but are commonly found in a white or cream color.

Temperament:
The Yorkie-ton breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. However, they are known for being an affectionate and playful little dog that is often cheerful and adventurous. They usually do very well with other dogs and pets and really thrive when they are with their owners. The breed generally gets along with everyone and while they will alert bark, they are usually friendly with strangers. The Yorkie-ton does well with children, however, their small size makes them a better choice for older children.

Life Expectancy:
14 to 16 years
Grooming:

If they are clipped, they only need to be brushed once a week but in a full coat, expect to brush them two or three times per week. Origin:
The Yorkie-ton breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Yorkie-ton, it is important to read up on both the Yorkshire Terrier and the Coton de Tulear.
