Breed Description: 

The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog is used to describe any cross breed that is the result of crossing a Wolf or Wolf Hybrid with dog breed.  For this reason, there is no set type for the dog.  They can range in size, shape and color but generally, they often look very wolfish in appearance and can often resemble a Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute.

This is not a purebred dog and it is important to be aware of legislation in your area since the ownership of a Wolf Hybrid is illegal in many states and provinces.  In addition, there is no set temperament and while one Wolf Hybrid may be loving and loyal, another may have aggression problems.

There are usually several levels of Wolf Hybrids with more or less Wolf in the pedigree and it is important to note that most puppies that have a high level of wolf in their pedigree will be more wolf like in temperament and look. However, sometimes dogs with little wolf in their pedigree can have the traits and temperaments of their wild cousins.

Temperament: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. However, that being said, it is important to point out that Wolf Hybrids are often described as being very wolf like in temperament. They are usually very independent and tend to have an alpha personality. They do need a strong owner who can give firm rules and training and they should be trained with positive reinforcement instead of harsh correction. The breed still has a very wild streak in them so expect them to roam, mark, hunt and even roll in everything. They are not the best breed for children and they can be very skittish dogs.

There is no known average height for Wolf Hybrids, however, they are usually large in size and range in height from 20 to 27 inches.

There is no known average weight for Wolf Hybrids, however, they are usually large in size and range in weight from 60 to 140 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog is not a purebred breed of dog and is considered to be a mixed breed. For this reason, they do not have any known health problems, however, you should research the breed that was crossed with the wolf to determine the health risks your dog may have.
Living Conditions: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog is better suited to homes with a large fenced yard since they generally have a fair amount of energy. The breed is known for wandering so it is important to have a secure fence that they can neither dig under or climb over.
Exercise: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dogs are usually large sized dogs with a large amount of energy. You should expect to give your Wolf Hybrid about 60 minutes of exercise each day and make sure that you offer them a large amount of intellectual stimulation as well.

Grooming: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog's grooming needs differs depending on the breed that was crossed with the wolf, however, in general, they are usually very easy to groom and you should only expect to brush the coat about once per week, however, you will need to brush it two or three times a week during shedding periods. In addition, if you live in warmer climates, your grooming needs may increase up to 4 or 5 times a week. They do not need a bath on a regular basis and can go most of the year with only one or two. Ears should be cleaned on a regular basis and the nails should be clipped once or twice a month, but other than that, nothing more really needs to be done.
Origin: 
The Wolf Hybrid breed of dog has been around for generations, however, there is currently a renewed interest in owning them. They are not a purebred breed and while very few can debate their beauty, this is not a breed for everyone. In fact, in many states and provinces, owning a Wolf Hybrid is strictly prohibited and owners should be aware that many have a wild nature and the same temperament of their wild counterparts.
