Breed Description: 

The Wirehaired Vizsla breed of dog is a medium-sized, wire-coated hunting dog with a distinguished appearance and carriage. He comes in shades from golden sand to deeper russet, and combines traits of both the pointer and retriever such that he can work in field, forest and water. He is popular in both the field and the show ring. Due to his power and drive while hunting and his trainability in the home. Living Conditions: 
The Wirehaired Vizsla, for all of his outdoor prowess, is actually quite quiet and calm in the house, making him somewhat adaptable to apartment living. However, he definitely needs an owner who will get him outside (preferably hunting) on a regular basis.
Exercise: 
The Wirehaired Vizsla breed of dog was born to hunt, and this sport should ideally figure into his daily exercise requirements. Short of that, he needs several times/day vigorous outdoor exercise.

Grooming: 
The Wirehaired Vizsla breed of dog is easily groomed. His all-weather coat should be brushed occasionally. His longer eyebrows and beard also need occasional combing to keep them burr and tangle free.
Origin: 
The Wirehaired Vizsla breed of dog hails from Germany. He was bred in the 1930s, when fanciers of the smooth-coated Vizsla found that his short coat was insufficient for colder temperatures or in particularly rough cover. Thus, Vizslas were bred with German wirehaired pointers, resulting in a dog with all of the Vizsla features, but with a protective wirecoat.
