Breed Description:

The Whoodles breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier with the Standard Poodle.  Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next.  Generally, the Whoodles will have qualities of both parents. They are usually a medium sized breed of dog, although some have been known to be larger, with long lines and a level top line.  They generally take after their Poodle parent with the tapering muzzle and large, pendulum ears.  They are often described as being a very graceful dog with a slightly curled tail.

The coat of the Whoodles can range but usually they consist of a soft, short undercoat covered by a very thick and slightly wavy topcoat that is medium in length.  The coat colors can be any of the colors found in the parent breeds, including wheaten, and you can find apricot, black, silver, blue, cream, white and red as well.

Temperament:
The Whoodles breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. However, they are known for being an affectionate breed of dog that usually gets along well with everyone. In fact, they are known for being an excellent family pet and will adapt to life with other dogs, cats and other pets very easily. They are an intelligent breed and while they can have the zest of a terrier, they are usually more reserved and usually have a calmer personality that is associated with the Standard Poodle.
Height:
The average height of a Whoodle is between 17 to 25 inches.
Weight:
The average weight of a Whoodles is between 25 to 45 pounds.
Health Problems:
The Whoodles breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and the Standard Poodle to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions:
The Whoodles breed of dog can do okay in apartments but the ideal home is one that has a small yard for the Whoodles to exercise in. They are not recommended as outdoor dogs and care should be taken when they are outside since they can be susceptible to heat exhaustion.
Exercise:
The Whoodles breed of dog is an active breed that requires between 30 to 45 minutes of exercise each day. The parent breeds are usually very intelligent so it is important to offer a Whoodles both physical and mental exercise.
Life Expectancy:
12 to 15 years
Grooming:
The Whoodles breed of dog may be crossed with a Poodle but the coat needs a fair amount of work to keep it tidy. Daily brushing is recommended, however, the coat can be brushed two or three times a week to remove dead hair and keep it from becoming matted. The Whoodles is usually bathed once every month or two and they should have their ears cleaned on a weekly basis and their nails trimmed once or twice a month.
Origin:
The Whoodles breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Whoodles, it is important to read up on both the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and the Standard Poodle.
