Breed Description: 

The Vlaamperd breed of horse is an extremely rare breed from South Africa, developed from crossing Friesans and Cape Horses with lighter Hackneys and Thoroughbreds. The Vlaamperd today has a very similar appearance to the Friesan, and like the Friesan is predominantly black with no white markings.

The Vlaamperd is strong and athletice, and is mainly used for carriage driving because of its power and flamboyant gaits.
