Breed Description: 

The Uzunyayla breed of horse originated in Turkey in the mid 19th centiry as a pack and working horse, and are beleived to descend from the kabarda.  They are light and sturdy, if somowhat plain in appearance, and have extraordinary endurance.  They make excellent horses for light work and pleasure riding. Usually fairly small, 14 to 15 hands, and almost always bay with no white markings, there is as yet to registry or stud book for the breed.  There are less than 2000 Uzunyayla horses in existence today.
