Breed Description: 

The Unmol breed of horse is an Indian breed of uncertain numbers that may be extinct. It is believed to be originally from riding and war horses from ancient Greece and Rome, and therefore of Turkmen descent.  Over the centuries, selective additions of other breeds, mainly Arab, further refined the breed, and the Unmol became renowned for elegance, intelligence, and athleticism.  The word 'Unmol' is Punjabi for 'priceless', indicating how elegant these  horses once were.  Unmol were usually bay or grey, and known to be small yet elegant with refined heads and light bodies.  Sadly, the Unmol is likely to be extinct, as most of the Unmols identified today have recent additions of more Arabian breeding.

However, despite efforts by the Indian Army to preserve the breed, it is doubtful that any purebred Unmol exist today.
