Some studies are showing that by reducing the amount of food you give your dog

Growing large breed puppy by 20% the risk of them developing joint problems such as, Hip Dysplasia is lowered by as much as 50%. Genetics may not play as big a part in reducing this issue in dogs as previously thought. Environment and food may play a bigger factor. This does not mean one should half starve your growing puppy. Feed your dog a very good quality food, and feed him 20% less of it four or five days a week. Praise your dog after feeding when cutting back. The dog is aware he’s getting less and reassuring him he is a good dog, will help him make the transition. If the food is very nutritious, he will however be satisfied.
