Breed Description:

The Schip-A-Pom breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pomeranian and the Schipperke. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Schip-A-Pom will have qualities of all the parents. They are a small to toy sized breed of dog that should be compact but still have a very delicate appearance with dainty long legs and tiny feet. The body should be slightly longer than they are tall and the head should be wedge shaped with a slightly rounded skull. The ears should be large and should be carried erect high on the head. The top line should be level and the short tail should curl over the back. The dog should appear robust in the body with a leggy appearance.

The coat of the Schip-A-Pom is usually medium in length with a very dense undercoat. The hair should stand off from the dog slightly and there should be a ruff around the neck. There should be shorter hair on the legs and head and the back of the hind legs should have slight feathering. The Schip-A-Pom can be found in any colors of the parent breeds but the most common color is black.

Temperament:
The Schip-A-Pom breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. They are known for being a cheerful and intelligent breed that can be a bit of a handful. They can be quite stubborn when they want to be but the Schip-A-Pom will eventually listen, although ti may not always be when you want it. The breed loves being with their owners and they can suffer from separation anxiety when they are left alone too long. In addition, if they become bored, they can become very destructive. The Schip-A-Pom does okay with older children but they are not recommended for homes with younger children. The breed is good with other dogs but may not be suitable for homes with other non-canine pets since they may have a high prey drive.
