Breed Description: 

The Rhenish-German Cold Blood breed of horse, or Rhenish Heavy Draft is a heavy draft breed from Germany. The breed is similar to the Belgian, with a large, muscular body. It has strong, short legs with some feathering. They can be chestnut, red roan with flaxen mane and tail or bay roan with black points. They stand between 16 and 17 hands high.

Origin:

Local heavy horses from Rhineland, Westphalia and Saxony were used, as well as the Ardennes, but the main foundation stock was the Belgian. The Rhenish is one of only four German heavy horse breeds and it is fairly rare.
