Dog
The Puggle breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pug and the Beagle. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Puggle will have qualities of all the parents. They are a small breed of dog that should be robust with a compact frame. The legs are usually short with a barrel shaped body. The top line is level and the medium length tail usually curls over the back. The head is broad and has a rectangular shape with a short muzzle, although not as short as a Pug's. They have ample wrinkles on the face, especially on the forehead and long, pendulous ears.
The coat of the Puggle is usually a short coat that is very dense and covers the dog completely. The hair should lay flat on the dog and create a smooth line. The texture of the coat should be slightly hard. The Puggle can be found in any colors that are common in the parent breeds but the most common colors are black or fawn with a black mask like a Pug.

The standards for all the breeds accepted to the AKC are used here for breed information, and those not part of the AKC are resourced from FCI standard information, where it is written and coded into the club rules for those breeds.
