The breed was a popular breed for many nobility and by 1761, the Pomeranian was imported into England. At that time, Queen Victoria became a fan of the breed and because of this, the breed began to be bred down to make it a smaller breed. The Pomeranian was imported into the United States in the 1880's and quickly became a favorite companion breed.
