Dog
The Pomchi breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pomeranian and the Chihuahua. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pomchi will have qualities of all the parents. They are a toy sized breed that should be slightly elongated with a compact and robust body. Their legs are usually very delicate looking and their heads are usually wedge shaped, although some have the distinct apple shape of the Chihuahua parent. The ears are usually large and stand erect near the top of the head. The tail usually curves over the back of the dog like the Pomeranian.
The coat can range from the long, dense coat of the Pomeranian to the short, single coat of the Chihuahua. The most common coat is medium in length that is free of an undercoat. Usually there is feathering on the ears and tail and a frill on the chest. The Pomchi can be found in any color that is common for the parent breeds but one of the most common color is cream or orange.

The standards for all the breeds accepted to the AKC are used here for breed information, and those not part of the AKC are resourced from FCI standard information, where it is written and coded into the club rules for those breeds.
