Dog

Pronunciation:
pom-uh-poo
Breed Description:

The Pomapoo breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pomeranian and the Miniature or Toy Poodle. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pomapoo will have qualities of all the parents.  The breed is a toy to small sized breed of dog that should be compact and robust. They should have a build that is slightly longer than they are tall. The head is slightly rounded with a broad muzzle and low set, hanging ears that are medium in size. The tail of the Pomapoo can be straight or curved over the back and the top line is usually level.

The Pomapoo coat can range from the long straight coat of the Pomeranian to the curly coat of the Miniature or Toy Poodle.  The more common coat is a double coat with a soft, short undercoat and a fluffy topcoat that is medium in length and medium in texture. The coat can be found in any color or marking but the common color is gray, brown or orange.

Temperament:
The Pomapoo breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. The breed is known as an ideal family dog that is affectionate and gentle. They are usually very good with children of all ages and are usually more robust for rough play than a Pomeranian. The breed is very intelligent and can learn quickly. They can be energetic but they also enjoy sitting back and relaxing with their owners. The Pomapoo does very well with other dogs and pets.
