Dog

Pronunciation:
pom-uh-nou-z
Breed Description:

The Pom-A-Nauze breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pomeranian and the Miniature Schnauzer. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pom-A-Nauze will have qualities of all the parents. The breed is generally a small sized breed of dog that should be robust and athletic in appearance. They should be slightly longer than they are tall with a level top line and a medium length tail that can either be straight or curled over the back. The Pom-A-Nauze usually has a broad, wedge shaped head that is slightly domed on the top and a medium thick muzzle. The ears are set mid height on the head and are usually folded over, although some are erect and others have a fold on just the tips.

The coat of the Pom-A-Nauze tends to be a wiry coat that leaves the dog with a very shaggy appearance. There is often evidence of a beard and eyebrows and most Pom-A-Nauzes have a softer, shorter undercoat. The breed can be found in any color that is common to both parent breeds, but common colors for them are gray or white.

Temperament:
The Pom-A-Nauze breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. They are an intelligent breed that is known for being very happy and inquisitive. The breed can be a bit stubborn but with patience, they are very easy to train and are usually affectionate and loyal. They tend to be a bit more reserved than other breeds but they are always on the watch and can make a wonderful watchdog. The breed does well with children but they do better in homes with older children. They also do okay with other pets and dogs.
