Dog
The Pekehund breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pekingese and the Dachshund. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pekehund will have qualities of all the parents. They are usually a small sized breed of dog that is set low to the ground with short legs and an elongated body. The top line is level and the medium length tail can either be straight or curl over the back. The Pekehund is usually round in build and very robust and their head is often similar to the Dachshund with the narrow muzzle. They can often have large eyes like the Pekingese and the ears are a combination of the two and will hang down the side of the head.
The coat of the Pekehund can range from the short coat of the Dachshund to the long silky coat of the Pekingese. Usually, it is medium in length with an abundant amount of hair that covers the dog completely. Feathering is commonly seen on the ears and tail and the texture of the coat is fine and silky. The Pekehund can be found in any color of the parent breeds but a common colors are red or black and tan.
