Breed Description: 

The Pekalier breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pekingese and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pekalier will have qualities of all the parents. They are a small sized breed of dog that should be slightly longer than they are tall. The overall build should be of a compact and robust breed that is sturdy. They should have a level top line with a long tail that curls over the back. The head of the Pekalier should be broad with large, drop ears and a short muzzle that isn't as short as the Pekingese parent.

The coat of the Pekalier is usually a double coat with a short undercoat and a longer top coat. The texture should be silky and there should be a natural gloss to the coat. There should be heavy feathering on the ears, chest and tail. The breed can be found in any color that is common for the parent breeds, however, the most common coat color is white with brown markings.

Temperament: 
The Pekalier breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. The Pekalier is a sweet breed that is known for being affectionate, playful and charming. This is loyal dog that usually gets along well with everyone. They do have a well of energy and their natural love of children make them an ideal family pet, however, care should be taken if the puppy takes after their Pekingese parent. The breed usually gets along well with other dogs and pets.

The average height for a Pekalier is between 6 to 13 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Pekalier is between 8 to 18 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Pekalier breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Pekingese to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Pekalier breed of dog is versatile when it comes to living conditions and they can live in both apartments and homes with yards. They should not live outdoors and do best when they are inside with their family as a companion dog. The breed can be prone to heat exhaustion so it is important to consider this on hot days.
Exercise: 
The Pekalier breed of dog is an active breed that requires between 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day. Generally, two good walks will meet their needs but it is also important to give them an opportunity for off leash exercise as well.

Grooming: 
The Pekalier breed of dog is often clipped to keep grooming to a minimal. If they are clipped,they only need to be brushed once a week but in a full coat, expect to brush them two or three times per week. The Peke-A-Tese should be bathed once or twice a month to keep their coat soft and you should wash around their eyes to prevent staining.
