Dog
The Pekalier breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Pekingese and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Pekalier will have qualities of all the parents. They are a small sized breed of dog that should be slightly longer than they are tall. The overall build should be of a compact and robust breed that is sturdy. They should have a level top line with a long tail that curls over the back. The head of the Pekalier should be broad with large, drop ears and a short muzzle that isn't as short as the Pekingese parent.
The coat of the Pekalier is usually a double coat with a short undercoat and a longer top coat. The texture should be silky and there should be a natural gloss to the coat. There should be heavy feathering on the ears, chest and tail. The breed can be found in any color that is common for the parent breeds, however, the most common coat color is white with brown markings.

The standards for all the breeds accepted to the AKC are used here for breed information, and those not part of the AKC are resourced from FCI standard information, where it is written and coded into the club rules for those breeds.
