Pronunciation:

Breed Description:

The Paperanian breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Papillon with the Pomerian.  Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next.  Generally, the Paperanian will have qualities of both parents.  They are a toy sized breed of dog with a slightly longer body than they are tall. They should have a wedge shaped head with large, erect ears that are triangular in shape, similar to the Papillon parent.  The tail is usually long and curled over the back.

The coat of the Paperanian is an abundant double coat that should have a thick, soft undercoat and a long top coat. The texture should be slightly hard and the hair should be straight. There can be feathering on the chest, back of legs, and a plume on the tail and the ears can be heavily feathered to create the butterfly look that is seen in the Papillon. The breed can be found in any colors common to the parent breeds but the most common colors are black, white, apricot and black and white.

Temperament:
The Paperanian breed of dog s a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. However, they are known for being an intelligent and cheerful breed that thrives when they can spend time with their owners. This is a breed that was designed for companionship and they often get along well with everyone. The breed is usually very loyal and they can often suffer from separation anxiety if they are left on their own for long periods of time. They do very well with children of all ages but their size makes them more appropriate for homes with older children. The Paperanian can do well with both dogs and other pets.
