We do know that the breed is believed to have been one of the original English Bulldog lines when the breed was commonly used for bull baiting but it is not clear how the line was maintained when the English Bulldog was being refined into what we see today. We do know that its survival and origins can be linked to a Scottish family, who maintained the breed for generations. The Wilkinsones maintained the breed in Loch Loman, Scotland and imported them into North America when they immigrated to Canada. Although the overall history of the Original English Bulldogge has been lost, the breed, along with a standard and documentation of the breed has been maintained since 1946, when the Original English Bulldogge arrived in North America.
