Origin:
The Olde English Bulldogge breed of dog is actually a new breed of dog but they are not considered to be a designer breed since they have been accepted by a number of registries and kennel clubs. The breed was created in the 1970's by a David Leavitt who wanted to create a healthier English Bulldog that looked closer to what the breed originally looked like. To do this, the David Leavitt crossed the English Bulldog with the Bullmastiff, American Bulldog and the Pitbull Terrier to create a dog that looked similar to the English Bulldog but with a longer muzzle and narrower shoulders. The result was a healthier Bulldog type breed that has gained popularity over the last few decades because of their better health and their ability as a working breed.
