The Novokirghiz breed of horse is a Russian riding horse breed developed from Thoroughbred and Don stock in the 1930s. Also called the Novokirgizskaya, it is one of the most popular horse breeds in Russia, although it has little recognition elsewhere. It is small, fast, and sturdy. The breed comes in all solid colors. It has exceptional endurance and is a sturdy breed, and its fast paces make it popular in harness.
