Breed Description: 

The National Show Horse breed of horse originated as a cross between an American Saddlebred and an Arabian horse, although it is now established as a separate breed. national Show Horses are often also registered as part-bred Saddlebreds or Arabians. To be eligible for registration as a National Show Horse, the individual must have between 25 and 99% Arabian parentage.

The National Show Horse combines the elegance of the Arabian with the animation of the Saddlebred. The resulting horse has the high-set, upright, long, swan-like neck of the Saddlebred, with a small elegant Arabian-type head. The National Show Horse may be a variety of colors, including bay, gray, chestnut and black but also commonly pinto and palomino. It is predominantly used for Saddle Seat riding, although some horses are shown in driving and western events.
