Dog
Mountain Hound Champions
The Mountain Hound breed of dog, also known as the Bavarian Mountain Hound, is a medium sized breed of dog that should be athletic and sturdy in appearance. They should be slightly longer than they are tall but should still be well-balanced and never too muscular where they appear cumbersome. The breed should have a slightly raised back end for a slightly off level top line. The head should be broad with a long muzzle and long ears that hang down the side of the head. The tail should be medium in length.
The coat of the Mountain Hound should be short and thick. It should cover the dog completely, lying close to the skin and should be hard in texture and shiny. They can be found in red, any shade of fawn ranging from light to dark, brindle, red-fawn, gray-fawn and black ticked. The muzzle and ears are usually black or darker in color than the rest of the coat and the tail is often ticked with black.
