Pronunciation:

Breed Description:

The Mini St. Bernard breed of dog is a hybrid dog that was developed by crossing several different breeds including the Pekingese, Basset Hound, Beagle, Shih Tzu and the Lhasa Apso.  The result was to create a small breed that looks very similar to the St. Bernard without actually using a St. Bernard.  The dogs are robust and muscular looking and have a slightly elongated body. The tail curls up over the back and the small ears hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the Mini St. Bernard should have a double coat with a soft undercoat and  a medium length topcoat. There is usually feathering on the ears, tail and chest and they can come in any colors but are primarily white with brown, black, cream or red markings.

Temperament:
The Mini St. Bernard breed of dog can be a very affectionate family dog that generally gets along well with everyone. They do very well with children and are usually gentle with them. In addition, they tend to do well in multi-pet homes and are an intelligent and social breed.
