Breed Description: 

The Meagle breed of dog was developed by crossing the Beagle with the Miniature Pinscher.  The result was a small to medium sized breed of dog with the slender body of the Miniature Pinscher and the slightly longer than tall build of the Beagle. The head is usually wedged shape with a narrow muzzle and the ears are the over sized Beagle ears that hang down the side of the head. The tail of the Meagle is long but some owners opt to dock the tail.

The coat of the Meagle is short and smooth and should cover the dog completely.  It should also have a glossy appearance to it. The Meagle can be found in any hound color includingblackand tan, lemon and tan, black, white and tan, red and white, lemon, orange and tan, and either blue or red tick.  The more common color is the black with tan point coat.

Temperament: 
The Meagle breed of dog is an active and affectionate breed that is usually very calm yet remain playful. They can make an excellent addition to a family and usually do very well with other pets and with children. They tend to be a little stubborn at times and need a firm owner who is willing to give them the training that they require. In addition, some Meagles can be nuisance barking so it is important to break this habit at a young age.

The average height of a Meagle is between 10 to 16 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight of a Meagle is between 10 to 25 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Meagle breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Miniature Pinscher and the Beagle to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Meagle breed of dog, while being small, is not recommended for apartments. This breed has a fair amount of energy and they are known for being barkers. They do much better in a home with a large yard. It is also important to have a fence since Meagle will give chase to many backyard animals without any thought to their own safety.
Exercise: 
The Meagle breed of dog is an active breed that does require about 45 minutes of exercise each day. They tend to be very energetic and need to be exercised both on leash and off. When you do exercise a Meagle, make sure that you keep them on lead since they have a high prey drive and may run off after something they feel is "prey".
Grooming: 
The Meagle breed of dog only needs to be brushed once per week and should be bathed only when it is necessary. Ears should be cleaned on a weekly basis and they should be dried thoroughly after any water play to prevent infections.
Origin: 
The Meagle breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Meagle, it is important to read up on both the Miniature Pinscher and the Beagle.
