Dog

Pronunciation:
mal-tee-pom
Breed Description:

The Maltipom breed of dog is a toy sized, to small breed of dog that was developed by crossing the Maltese with the Pomeranian. The result was a small dog with a slightly square body and a curled tail that rests over the back of the dog. The ears are usually small and erect near the side of the head and the legs are slender and almost cat-like in appearance.

The coat of the Maltipom consists of a dense undercoat and a long, silky topcoat. It is commonly white with auburn highlights but they can also bered, white, cream, black, orange sable, orange, blue, black and tan, brindle, parti colored and wolf sable.

Temperament:
The Maltipom breed of dog is a true companion dog in every sense of the word. They love being with their owners and tend to suffer from separation anxiety when they are left alone for too long. They are very affectionate and love simply spending time with people regardless of what they are doing. The Maltipom loves to travel and they usually get along with other dogs. They are not recommended for homes with children since they can be a bit snappy and they can be easily hurt by young children.
