Breed Description: 

The Maltichon breed of dog is the result of crossing the Maltese with the Bichon Frise to create a small breed of dog that has a sturdy and compact build. The Maltichon should be slightly longer than it is tall and they should have a robust build that gives substance to the dog without making them appear course. The breed has medium sized ears that hang and the tail curls over onto the back.

The coat of the Maltichon usually consists of two coats. A dense undercoat and a soft, medium length top coat. The top coat should have a wave or loose curls and there should be full hair on the muzzle and head giving them an almost shaggy appearance.  The coat is white.

Temperament: 
The Maltichon breed of dog is an intelligent little dog that is eager to please and always willing to get out and about with their owners. They generally get along with everyone and tend to be very affectionate. They make an excellent family dog and are gentle and patient with children. They also do very well with other dogs and household pets, although socialization is still important with this breed. They can be a little stubborn but tend to temper it with a clown like temperament that has owners laughing more than feeling frustrated.

The average height of a Maltichon is between 8 to 12 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight of a Maltichon is between 6 to 12 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Maltichon breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Maltese and the Bichon Frise to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Maltichoni breed of dog can do very well apartments. They should not live outdoors and do best when they are inside with their family as a companion dog.
Exercise: 
The Maltichon breed of dog does have a fair amount of energy but it is usually expelled with one or two good walks each day. The breed is small enough to be exercised indoors but it is important to get them outside on a daily basis.
Life Expectancy: 
15 to 18 years
Grooming: 
The Maltichon breed of dog is often clipped to keep grooming to a minimal. If they are clipped, they only need to be brushed once a week but in a full coat, expect to brush them two or three times per week. The Malchon only needs to be bathed when necessary and they can go several months before needing a bath.
Origin: 
The Maltichon breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Maltichon, it is important to read up on both the Maltese and the Bichon Frise.
