Breed Description: 

The Lhatese breed of dog is a small breed that was developed by crossing the Lhasa Apso with the Maltese.  The breed should be compact with a slightly longer body than it is tall. It should be robust in appearance and should have thick limbs and a long tail that tapers. The ears of the Lhatese are usually long and hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the Lhatese is usually a combination of the Maltese and the Lhasa Apso with thick dense fur that is medium in length and has a wave to loose curl. The texture should be smooth and the hair on the head should be slightly shorter than the body.  The color of a Lhatese can be any including black, tan, gray, gold and cream but the more common color is either pure white or white with tan markings.

Temperament: 
The Lhatese breed of dog is an affectionate and intelligent breed. They are playful and can be very funny at times and are usually a joy to watch. The Lhatese is very loyal to their family and generally get along well with everyone including strangers and other pets and dogs. They are patient with children, although they may be better suited for older children, especially if they take after their Lhasa Apso parent.
Height: 
The average height of a Lhatese is between 8 to 11 inches with females being slightly smaller than males.
Weight: 
The average weight of a Lhatese is between 10 to 15 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Lhatese breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Maltese and the Lhasa Apso to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Lhatese breed of dog can make an excellent apartment companion and really do well just about anywhere. They should not live outdoors and do much better in the home instead of in a kennel.
Exercise: 
The Lhatese breed of dog is an active small dog so expect to give them about 20 minutes of exercise each day. Usually two walks per day will meet their exercise needs but they are happier when they have a little off leash exercise as well.

14 to 16 years
Grooming: 
The Lhatese breed of dog should be brushed several times a week to keep the coat free of mats and dead hair. In addition, they should be bathed on a regular basis, usually once or twice a month, to keep their coat healthy. Like the Lhasa Apso, the Lhatese can have their coats clipped to make them easier to care for.
Origin: 
The Lhatese breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Lhatese, it is important to read up on both the Maltese and the Lhasa Apso.
