Breed Description: 

The Lhasapoo breed of dog is a small breed that was developed by crossing the Lhasa Apso with the Poodle. This created a dog that has a sturdy and compact body, which is slightly longer than it is tall. The dog should be well-balanced and there should be a small muzzle and long ears that hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the Lhasapoo is long and silky to the touch and it usually has a slight wave to it.  The ears, tail and legs are covered with longer, feathered hair and the head is covered in a shorter hair. The Lhasapoo can be found in white, cream, gold, brown, black, brindle or any other color or combination of colors.

 

 

The Lhasapoo is a hybrid breed that is developed by crossing a Poodle with a Lhasa Apso. The breed is a small breed with a luxurious coat. The head has a round crown and short muzzle. There is a slight stop. It has expressive eyes that are large, but not too prominent. The nose is also large. Its body is well proportioned and sturdy. The ears are well feathered and hang down loosely at the sides of its head. Its neck is in proportion to its body and extends smoothly to its back. The legs are well feathered.

Temperament: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog is affectionate and playful. They love being clowns and generally enjoy spending time with their owners. They can be a bit reserved with strangers but with people in their homes they are nothing short of cuddly and expressive. They are not the best match for young children since they can be snappy towards them but with older children and proper socialization and training, they can do well. The Lhasapoo is also good with other pets in the home, but again, training and socialization is key.

The average height of a Lhasapoo is between 9 to 13 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight of a Lhasapoo is between 12 to 16 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Poodle and the Lhasa Apso to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog, while being energetic, can make an excellent apartment dog, however, it is important that their exercise needs are met. They should not be outdoor dogs and do best when they can be with their family.
Exercise: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog is fairly active and will need between 15 to 20 minutes of exercise each day. Thankfully, their small size makes exercise easy and you can meet their needs with one or two walks and a good game of fetch down a hallway.
Life Expectancy: 
12 to 16 years
Grooming: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog is often clipped to keep grooming to a minimal. If they are clipped,they only need to be brushed once a week but in a full coat, expect to brush them two or three times per week. They should only be bathed when necessary and can go several months before needing a bath.
Origin: 
The Lhasapoo breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Lhasapoo, it is important to read up on both the Poodle and the Lhasa Apso.
