Breed Description: 

The Leopard Cur breed of dog is a medium to large sized breed of dog that should be well balanced and should have a build of an athletic dog. The head should be broad with wide set ears and the muzzle should be strong without appearing too thick. The ears should hang down the side of the head and the tail can range in size, although it is commonly long. 

The coat of the Leopard Cur should consist of a double coat with a dense undercoat and a slightly longer top coat that is still short and has a rough texture to it.  The Leopard Cur can be found in five colors and all of the colors can have up to 1/3 of the coat marked with white, although they can also be solid. The colors are black, yellow, Leopard spotted, brindle, gray and blue.

Temperament: 
The Leopard Cur breed of dog is known for being a very versatile treeing dog that is a hard working hunting breed. They are usually very even tempered and are not usually very aggressive with other pets and people. They do have a strong prey drive, which makes them unsuitable for homes with small pets. The breed is known for being very courageous and bold and while they are confident, they tend to be easy to be train and are usually happy to please their owners. They do well with children and tend to be patient with them.
Height: 
There is no specific height for a Leopard Cur but it should be in proportion to its weight.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Leopard Cur is between 50 to 75 for males and 45 to 65 pounds for a female.
Health Problems: 
The Leopard Cur breed of dog does not have any known health problems and is considered to be a healthy breed.
Living Conditions: 
The Leopard Cur breed of dog is not recommended for apartments. They are an active breed and need a yard to exercise in. The ideal home for a Leopard Cur is a home with acreage for the dog to explore. The Leopard Cur is not recommended as an outdoor dog since they thrive when they are with their family.
Exercise: 
The Leopard Cur breed of dog is an active breed that needs at least 60 minutes of exercise each day. They love being out and working so it is important to offer them a variety of activities. The Leopard Cur can make an excellent jogging companion and can do very well in a range of dog sports.

12 to 15 years
Grooming: 
The Leopard Cur breed of dog should be brushed once per week to remove any dead hair but outside of that, they are a very easy dog to groom. Special care should be given to the ears, since they can be prone to ear infections and the hair under the ears and around the feet should be trimmed on a regular basis. Baths should only be given when it is absolutely necessary and the Mountain View Cur can go several months between baths.
Origin: 
The origins of the Leopard Cur is not completely clear, although we do know that they were developed in the United States. It is believed that they were created by crossing several hound types with the Catahoula Leopard Dog. The breed is not accepted by the AKC but efforts have been made to create a breed standard and the breed club was formed in the 1960's to preserve the breed.
