Dog

Pronunciation:
lah-chuhn
Breed Description:

The La-Chon breed of dog is a toy sized breed of dog that is the result of crossing the Bichon Frise with the Lhasa Apso. The dog should be compact in size with a sturdy look but they shouldn't look stocky.  They should have a slightly curled tail that curls over the back and they should have a very happy look to them.  The coat is medium in length and is often clipped for easier grooming. It is usually white but it can also be cream, gray, apricot, dark-grizzle, brown or white with markings of the mentioned colors.

Temperament:
The La-Chon breed of dog is an affectionate little dog that can be very playful and humorous. The breed loves being with their families and often make them laugh with their antics. They can be surprisingly gentle but when it comes to being a good dog for children, it really depends on whether they take after the Bichon Frise or the Lhasa Apso, if it is the latter, they are not the best match for children. When it comes to training, this breed is not easy to train. They need firm rules and training should be consistent but even then, it can take a fair amount of time to train them.
Height:
The average height of the La-Chon is 9 to 14 inches.
Weight:
The average weight of the La-Chon is 10 to 14 pounds
Health Problems:
The La-Chon breed of dog has no known health problems, however, skin and eye problems are prevalent in both breeds and can be seen in the La-Chon.
Living Conditions:
The La-Chon breed of dog is a perfect pet for apartments so the La-Chon can live anywhere except outdoors.
Exercise:
The La-Chon breed of dog does not have a lot of energy so they only need one good walk per day to stay healthy. Because of their small size, the La-Chon can be exercised in the house with a small game of fetch in the hallway.
Life Expectancy:
12 to 15 years with many reaching 18 years
Grooming:
The La-Chon breed of dog has a coat that can be difficult to care for and does require daily brushing to keep dead hair and tangles at a minimum. The coat can be clipped short to make grooming easier and this should be done every 6 weeks or so. The La-Chon should be bathed once every month or two.
Origin:
The La-Chon breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the La-Chon, it is important to read up on both the Bichon Frise and the Lhasa Apso.
