Breed Description: 

The Jura Niederlaufhund breed of dog is a medium sized breed of dog that should be robust and sturdy. They should be well-built with good proportion. The build should be slightly longer than they are tall and they should have a level top line. The head should be broad, with a long and slender look from the front. It should give the dog a noble appearance. The ears should be long and should hang down the side of the head. The tail should be long and slightly curved.

The coat of the dog should be short in length and dense. There should be a soft undercoat and the top coat should be hard to the touch. The only color that is accepted for the Jura Niederlaufhund is black with tan points above the eyes. There can be some white on the coat.

Temperament: 
The Jura Niederlaufhund breed of dog is an affectionate and loyal breed that is known for being very intelligent and hard working. The breed is known for being a very good family pet and usually get along well with children of all ages. They do have a high level of energy and can become destructive if they are bored. The breed is usually good with other dogs but they need proper socialization to accept other pets. It is important to note that the breed is a hunting dog and thrives when it can work and expel any energy it has.

The Jura Niederlaufhund breed of dog is a very active breed that requires between 45 to 60 minutes of exercise each day. They love to work so it is important to give this breed something to do.

Grooming: 
The Jura Niederlaufhund breed of dog breed of dog should be brushed once per week to remove any dead hair but outside of that, they are a very easy dog to groom. Special care should be given to the ears, since they can be prone to ear infections and the hair under the ears and around the feet should be trimmed on a regular basis. Baths should only be given when it is absolutely necessary and the breed can go several months between baths.
Origin: 
The Jura Niederlaufhund breed of dog was developed in Switzerland and was commonly used for hunting, especially in enclosed shoots. The breed is related to the Swiss Hound and was actually developed from the breed in an attempt to create a dog that could worker in more enclosed terrains. The breed is one of four different Schweizer Niederlaufhund, all of them being identical in look and temperament with the only difference being their coat color. The breed is considered to be an uncommon breed.
