Jug

Dog

Pronunciation:
juhg
Breed Description:

The Jug breed of dog is not a purebreed and is actually a mix breed between the Jack Russell Terrier and the Pug.  They are a small dog, and usually have a lean body similar to their Jack Russell Parent and their tail will be tight and curled up onto their back. The head of the Jug is very similar to a Pug except the muzzle will be slightly longer but not as long as a Jack Russell Terrier's.  The coat of the Jug is short and should cover the body completely.  The colors are usually either caramel or black and most Jugs have the black mask on their muzzle and face that is so common in the Pug.

Temperament:
The Jug is a friendly and energetic breed of dog that enjoys playing with their family. They are very loyal and while they can do well with children, they are better suited to homes with older children since they can be too energetic. The breed is known for being very intelligent and happy.
Height:
The average height of a Jug is between 10 to 14 inches.
Weight:
The average weight of a Jug is between 10 to 18 pounds.
Health Problems:
The Jug breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to research both the Jack Russell Terrier and the Pug. There is a very serious disease in the Pug called Pug Dog Encephalitis and both breeds are prone to eye problems.
Living Conditions:
The Jug can live in any type of dwelling and can do well in apartments.
Exercise:
The Jug breed of dog requires regular exercise but can do well with a quick game of fetch in the yard or a good walk. If they have inherited the Jack Russell Terrier's energy level instead of their Pug parent's energy level, they will require a bit more exercise to keep them out of trouble.
Life Expectancy:
14 to 16 years, although 20 years is not uncommon
Grooming:
The Jug breed of dog is very easy to groom and only needs to be brushed once per week. Bathing should be done only when needed and a wipe down with a damp cloth will keep them tidy. If there are extra wrinkles or the tail is a corkscrew, then the wrinkles will need to be wiped down two or three times per week.
Origin:
The Jug breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Jug, it is important to read up on both the Jack Russell Terrier and the Pug.
