Breed Description:

The Jack-A-Poo breed of dog is a small breed that was developed by crossing the Jack Russel Terrier with the Poodle. They are an athletic breed that has a strong, muscular body and a slightly rectangular build. They should be slightly longer than they are tall and their head should be well defined with a wide muzzle. The tail can be long but many owners opt to dock it and the ears are high on the head but hang down the side.

The coat of the Jack-A-Poo is usually medium in length with a slight wave to it, however, it is not uncommon for the breed to have either a short, smooth coat similar to the Jack Russel Terrier or the tight curls of a Poodle. The Jack-A-Poo can be found in any color and they can be marked, spotted, bi-color and tri-color.  The more common colors for the Jack-A-Poo are primarily white with markings that are either black, apricot, tan or gray.

Temperament:
The Jack-A-Poo breed of dog is intelligent and independent. This is a breed that loves being with their family but they don't have to be with them all the time. They are usually very playful and funny and are always looking for a good adventure. The Jack-A-Poo is very curious and is usually alert and attentive. They make excellent companions for children but they are not recommended for multi-pet homes since they have a strong prey drive and may suffer from dog aggression.
