Breed Description: 

The Irish Doodle breed of dog was developed by crossing the Irish Setter with the Poodle. The result was a medium to large sized breed that is slightly longer than it is tall and has a robust build that is athletic and sturdy. They should not have excess weight but should give the appearance of an agile dog with a large amount of stamina.

The coat of the Irish Doodle is usually a wavy coat that is shaggy in appearance. They are usually low shedders and there can be feathering on the ears, chest and long tail. The color of the Irish Doodle is commonly a dark red but they can also be found in black, white, apricot, gray, blue, cream and cafe-au-lait.

Temperament: 
The Irish Doodle breed of dog is usually a very intelligent breed that is hard working and happy to be with their owners. They are not as eager to please as some breeds but if training is fun and exciting, they can often be trained very easily. They are usually very friendly and tend to get along well with everyone and everything. They do well in multi-pet families and are excellent with children.
Height: 
The height of the Irish Doodle falls into three categories. Standard: 22 to 28 inches. Medium: 15 to 20 inches. Miniature: 14 to 16 inches
Weight: 
The weight of a Irish Doodle falls into three categories: Standard: 50 to 70 pounds, Medium: 30 to 45 pounds, Miniature: 15 to 25 pounds
Health Problems: 
The Irish Doodle breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Irish Setter and the Poodle to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Irish Doodle breed of dog does come in three sizes but regardless of size, they are an active breed and aren't recommended for apartments. Instead, they do much better in a home with a large, fenced yard. While they do enjoy being outdoors, the Irish Doodle should not be an outdoor dog.
Exercise: 
The Irish Doodle breed of dog requires about 60 minutes of exercise each day and could do with more. They can make excellent jogging companions and are always ready to get out and play.
Life Expectancy: 
11 to 15 years
Grooming: 
The Irish Doodle can be an easy breed to groom and usually only need to be brushed once per week. Generally, the coat that they inherit is low shedding and hypo-allergenic and they can be a good choice for people with allergies. They should be bathed only when necessary and the coat can be clipped for easier maintenance.
Origin: 
The Irish Doodle breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Irish Doodle, it is important to read up on both the Irish Setter and the Poodle.
