Breed Description: 

The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog is a medium sized breed that looks very similar to the English Foxhound, however, it is a lighter and less bulkier dog than the English Foxhound. The breed should be a hardy breed that is robust and athletic, giving a sturdy appearance. They should be slightly longer than they are tall and should have a level top line and a slight tuck up. The tail should be long and should be carried low. The head of the Hamiltonstovare should be long and rectangular in shape. The ears should be medium in length and should hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the dog should medium in length and dense. There should be a soft undercoat and the top coat should be hard to the touch. The coat should be tri-colored with white, golden tan and black.

Temperament: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog is a friendly and intelligent dog that is known for its sweet temperament and its hardworking nature. This is a working breed and they thrive when they have something to do. They are very affectionate and loyal with their family, however, they are not a dog that needs to be with their owner all the time. In addition, they can be stubborn and do need a firm and consistent owner. The Hamiltonstovare does well with children and other dogs but will need to be properly socialized to accept other pets.

The average height for a Hamiltonstovare is between 19 to 24 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Hamiltonstovare is between 50 to 60 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog is considered to be a hardy breed of dog with few known health problems.
Living Conditions: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog is not recommended for apartments. This is a hunting breed and does much better in a home with a large yard or acreage.
Exercise: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog is an active breed that needs at least 60 minutes of exercise each day. They love being out and working so it is important to offer them a variety of activities.

Grooming: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog should be brushed once per week to remove any dead hair but outside of that, they are a very easy dog to groom. Special care should be given to the ears, since they can be prone to ear infections and the hair under the ears and around the feet should be trimmed on a regular basis. Baths should only be given when it is absolutely necessary and the breed can go several months between baths.
Origin: 
The Hamiltonstovare breed of dog was developed in Sweden and was created by crossing several hunting hounds including some English Foxhounds, German hounds and Harriers. The breed was developed by Count Adolf Hamilton, who was also the founder of the Swedish Kennel Club.
