The Goldendoodle breed of dog is a hybrid or designer dog that was created by crossing the Golden Retriever with either the Standard, Miniature or Toy Poodle.  They can range in size from small to large and they are usually slightly longer than they are tall.  They should be well-built without being overweight and should have the appearance of a robust dog.

The coat of the Goldendoodle can range but it is usually about 2 or 3 inches in length with wavy to tightly curled hair.  Hair on the tail, legs, body, and ears are usually longer and slightly feathered, while the hair on the head and muzzle is shorter.  The Goldendoodle can be found in a range of colors that are common for both breed parents including the yellow of the Golden Retriever, which ranges from creme to rich golden, black, white, apricoat, gray, copper and red.  White markings are occasionally seen.

Temperament:
The Goldendoodle breed of dog is a breed that is known for being very affectionate and loyal. They make a wonderful family companion and tend to get along well with everyone. They do very well with children and are usually very patient with young and old alike. The Goldendoodle is usually eager to please but they do have a playful side and can be the "Peter Pan" of the dog world. It is important to give this dog proper training and to be patient with his young personality.

Living Conditions:
The Goldendoodle breed of dog is best suited for life in a home with a small yard. They do not have the best dispostiion for apartment living but the Miniature variety may do well in an apartment.
Exercise:
The Goldendoodle breed of dog is an active dog but they actually have an average energy level. This means that they don't require as much exercise as many other breeds but you should still expect about 30 minutes of exercise per day. They do very well in a variety of canine sports and they also enjoy being outside whether it is hiking, swimming or simply enjoying a good game of fetch.
Life Expectancy:
10 to 15 years
Grooming:
The Goldendoodle breed of dog can be very easy to groom if you keep the coat clipped short. If you keep them in their full coat, then you should expect to brush your dog two or three times per week and you will need to constantly work out mats and debris from the coat. Many Goldendoodle owners opt to clip the coat and this should be done every 6 to 8 weeks. When they do, the breed is very easy to care for and only require weekly brushings to keep the coat tidy. Bathing should be done when it is necessary and a Goldendoodle can go several months between baths. Special care should be given to the ears since the breed can be susceptible to ear infections so it is important to wash the ears on a regular basis and to keep them dry.
Origin:
The Goldendoodle is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Goldendoodle, it is important to read up on both the Golden Retriever and the Poodle.
