Breed Description: 

The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog is a cross breed, or hybrid, that was created by crossing the Golden Retriever and the Bernese Mountain Dog.  They are a large sized breed of dog with substantial size and build.  They often have more of the Bernese Mountain Dog build that is slightly longer than it is tall.  The tail is long and the ears hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the Golden Mountain Dog is medium in length and there is a definite double coat with a short and dense undercoat and the longer top coat.  There is usually feathering on the ears and tail.  The color of the Golden Mountain Dog can be solid black, yellow, ranging in shades from cream to rich golden, yellow with white markings or the tri-colored markings of the Bernese Mountain Dog, which is black with tan points and white markings on the chest and feet.  Lastly, the Golden Mountain Dog can also be black with tan points on the head, chest and feet.

Temperament: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog is a very good family dog that generally gets along well with everyone. They have a sweet disposition, are very gentle and are devoted to their family. They are very patient with children and do very well with other dogs and pets. They can be playful and are very happy. The Golden Mountain Dog also gets along with just about anyone and tend to be calm and affectionate.
Height: 
The average height of the Golden Mountain Dog is between 22 to 28 inches, with females being slightly smaller.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Golden Mountain Dog is between 55 to 110 pounds with females being slightly smaller.
Health Problems: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog has no known health problems, however, both foundation breeds are prone to hip dysplasia and eye and heart problems so the Golden Mountain Dog may be prone to these health problems. It is best to research both the Golden Retriever and the Bernese Mountain Dog to find out what health concerns your dog may experience.
Living Conditions: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog is not recommended for apartments. While they can be very inactive indoors, they are a large dog and do require room to exercise. In addition, they enjoy being outside so they do best in a home with a large fenced yard.
Exercise: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog is an energetic breed but they don't require as much exercise as other breeds. Generally, 30 to 60 minutes of exercise each day is enough to meet their needs, however, you should be careful with this breed since they can gain weight very easily so they do require good exercise.
Life Expectancy: 
6 to 12 years
Grooming: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog does require a fair amount of grooming and you should expect to brush them two or three times a week at a minimum. During heavy shedding periods, expect to groom this dog every day and also be prepared for a large amount of hair in your home. The Golden Mountain Dog should be bathed about once per month and the hair around the feet and under the ears should be trimmed on a regular basis to prevent matting and infections from occurring.
Origin: 
The Golden Mountain Dog breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Golden Mountain, it is important to read up on both the Golden Retriever and the Bernese Mountain Dog.
