Breed Description: 

The Golden Irish breed of dog is a medium to large sized breed of dog that is a crossbreed between the Golden Retriever and the Irish Setter.  They are usually athletic and well built, although they tend to be smaller in height than the Irish Setter and leaner than the Golden Retriever.  They usually have a long tail and pendulous ears that are set high on the head.

The coat of the Golden Irish is usually medium in length with shorter hair on the sides and belly and longer hair on the back. There should be feathering on the chest, ears, tail and legs and there is usually a mane of hair around the neck. They are usually red or yellow in coloring but the yellow can range from cream to dark gold.

Temperament: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog is an active breed that is playful and happy. They are usually very gentle with children and generally get along well with other dogs. They are very friendly and will accept everyone and anyone into their homes. The Golden Irish is usually eager to please and can be trained quite easily.
Height: 
The average height of a Golden Irish is between 20 to 28 inches, although they are usually about 22 to 24 inches tall.
Weight: 
The average weight of a Golden Irish is between 55 to 80 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog does not have any known health concerns, however, both the Irish Setter and the Golden Retriever have health problems that the breed may inherit. It is important to research both of the parent breeds to be aware of potential health problems.
Living Conditions: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog is not ideal for apartments since they have such high energy levels. They do much better in a home with a large yard or with acreage for them to run around in.
Exercise: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog is an active breed that requires about 60 minutes of exercise each day. They are very active and love being outside and working. This is an excellent jogging companion and they love getting out to swim.

11 to 15 years
Grooming: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog has a long coat that requires regular grooming. Generally, a dog should be brushed two or three times per week to keep the coat free of debris and matting. Hair under the ears and between the toes should be trimmed to prevent infections and the ears should be kept clean and dry. Bathing should be done about once a month and nails should be kept trimmed to avoid splintering.
Origin: 
The Golden Irish breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Golden Irish, it is important to read up on both the Golden Retriever and the Irish Setter.
