Horse
The Freiberger breed of horse is a highly versatile light to middle weight draft and riding horse from Switzerland. They are sometimes called Freibergs or Franches-Montagnes. Freibergers are well-suited to both driving and riding. Typically, they have a small but heavy head with a straight profile, pronounced jaw line, a broad forehead, and small ears. Necks are arched and muscular, and broad at the base. Shoulders are sloping, with broad and pronounced withers, and a short straight back. The Freiberger breed of horse invariably has good clean legs, strong joints, and hard feet. The slight feathering that Freibergers used to show at the feet has been largely bred out. Today's Freibergers also have somewhat finer heads, sometimes showing Arabian character. They are generally bay or chestnut in color. White markings are accepted on the face and legs, but not preferred.
