Horse

Pronunciation:
f `tä
Breed Description:

The Fouta breed of horse is a light horse from Senegal in West Africa. The Fouta horse is typically chestnut or bay, but can also be gray and black. Foutas are used as pack, driving, and riding horses, as well as for general farm work. They are critically important to the livelihood of their masters, often pulling heavily laden carts. Although they are relatively lightly built, due to their Arabian ancestry, functionality has not been bred out of the Fouta breed of horse, as it has been from other Arabian-based breeds.

Origin:
The Fouta breed of horse was developed by crossing the Fleuve (itself a cross between Barb horses and native horses) and the M'Bayar, a pony breed native to the Baol region of Senegal.
