Originally used as cattle dogs, the Florida Cracker Cur is still used in this capacity and is commonly referred to as "catch dogs," which are dogs that will herd in stray cattle or hold cattle until the farmer can collect it. The breed is still treasured today for their hard work ethic and ability to be a versatile working and family dog.
