Breed Description: 

The Doxle breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Dachshund with the Beagle. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Doxle will have qualities of both parents. The breed is usually a robust and barrel chested breed with an elongated body that is similar to their Dachshund parent. They usually have a broad head with long ears hanging down the side of the head. The top line should be level and the tail is usually long and tapers to a point.

The coat of the Doxle is short and close to the skin. It should cover the dog fully and can be any color that is commonly seen in the parent breeds. The most common colors are black and tan, red,bi-colored or tri-colored.

Temperament: 
The Doxle breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. They are considered to be a wonderful family companion that is affectionate, playful and gentle. They are excellent with children of all ages and they usually get along well with other pets and dogs. They usually love everyone they meet and often great life with a happy disposition and a natural charm that they inherit from their Beagle parent. They can be reserved at times but in general, this intelligent little breed is often a playful companion.

The average weight for a Doxle is between 16 to 18 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Doxle breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on both the Dachshund and the Beagle to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Doxle breed of dog can do okay in apartments but they can be very vocal, especially if they have taken after their Beagle parent. The ideal is a home with a large fenced yard for them to play in. They should not be an outdoor dog.
Exercise: 
The Doxle breed of dog is an active breed that requires between 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day. Generally, two good walks will meet their needs but it is also important to give them an opportunity for off leash exercise as well.

Grooming: 
The Doxle breed of dog has a short coat that is very easy to care for. Weekly brushing should be done to remove dead hair and the coat can be wiped down with a wet cloth to keep them clean. Ears should be cleaned on a regular basis and nails should be trimmed once or twice a week.
