Breed Description: 

The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog is a small sized breed of dog that should be well built and compact. The overall appearance should be of a well-developed dog that is slightly longer than it is tall. They should have a compact build and the head should be wedge shaped with a tapered muzzle. The ears should be set high on the head and can either be rose shaped or folded forward. The top line should be level and the tail can either be long and tapered to a point or a natural bobtail. 

The coat of the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog should be short and smooth and should have a slightly hard texture to it.  They can be found in tri-colored coats, white and brown, bi-color, black and red.

Temperament: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog is a very intelligent and lively little dogs that are alert, and brave. They are usually very curious and often find things to get into. The breed does very well with children and provide them with a playful and attentive pet. They are usually very active and are happiest when they have something to do. The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog can do very well with other dogs but they do have a strong prey drive and are not recommended for homes with small "pocket" pets.

The average height for a Danish-Swedish Farm Dog is between 12 to 15 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Danish-Swedish Farm dog is between 15 to 25 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog is considered to be a very hardy breed and there are no known health problems.
Living Conditions: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog can do well in an apartment if their exercise needs are being met, however, the ideal living condition is a home with a large fenced yard.
Exercise: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog is an active breed and requires a lot of exericse both on leash and off to keep them happy. Expect to give them about 45 to 60 minutes of exercise each day. When they are exercising, it is important to keep them on leash whenever you are not in a secure area since the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog will chase after anything they feel is prey. In addition, this breed can become very destructive if they become bored.

10 to 15 years
Grooming: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog does not require a lot of maintenance and can be kept tidy with only one brushing each week. In addition, the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog only requires a bath every few months and can do with only one or two baths a year. In between baths, the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog can be kept clean with a damp cloth.
Origin: 
The Danish-Swedish Farm Dog breed of dog is a rare breed of dog but that does not mean that it is new. In fact, the breed is considered to be a very old breed and although it is unclear as to when the breed originated, it is speculated that the breed has been around for a thousand years. It is believed that the dog was originally known as "The Rat Dog" and it was commonly used in farms as both a herding dog and a hunting dog to track down and destroy vermin on the farm. The breed thrived in a number of countries in and around Sweden and Denmark, however, with the arrival of the industrial revolution, the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog began to fall out of popularity. In fact, the numbers were so decimated that hte breed was feared to be extinct. However, through the efforts of several dedicated breeders, the Danish-Swedish Farm Dog has once again risen in number but the breed remains a rare one.
