Breed Description:

The Dameranian breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Dachshund with the Pomeranian. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Dameranian will have qualities of both parents. They are often described as small sized breed of dog that has a slightly elongated body and short legs. The top line of the dog is usually level and the tail is usually medium in length and can either be straight or curled over the back depending on the parent the puppy takes after.  The head is usually apple shaped and the large ears are often half pricked and carried to the side.

The coat of the Dameranian is usually similar to the Pomeranian, however, usually, the coat has a lighter undercoat with a soft, thick topcoat that is long.  There is usually no wave to the coat and there can be a plume of hair on the tail.  The color of the Dameranian can be anything that is found in the parent breeds but common colors are the black, cream or brown.
