Breed Description:
The Chien Francais Tricolore breed of dog is a large sized breed of dog that should be powerful in appearance without appearing course. They should have a level top line that is slightly longer than they are tall and they should have a slight tuck up. The head should be narrow and long, however, it should be in proportion to the body. The ears should be long and should be slightly curled. The tail of the Chien Francais Tricolore should be long and tapered to a point.
The coat should be short and dense and should lay close to the skin. They should be tricolor with common hound markings of white, tan and black, although grizzle is allowed. There can be tan or blue specking on the legs and black shading on the face can also be found.
Temperament:
The Chien Francais Tricolore breed of dog is an intelligent breed that is known for their energy and dedication for work. This is a hunting dog and they do well working throughout the day. The breed is usually loyal to their family, however, they can be stubborn and do need a firm owner for training. The breed usually does well in a multidog home but they need proper socialization to be accepting of other animals.

The average height for the Chien Francais Tricolore is between 24.5 to 26.5 inches for a female and 25.5 to 28 inches for a male.

A wipe down with a damp cloth will keep them clean and they should only be bathed when it is absolutely necessary. Ears should be cleaned on a regular basis and nails should be clipped once or twice a month.
