Breed Description:
Independent, curious, alert but imperturbable, protective, territorial and devoted to their own family but they should be supervised with children. They may try to dominate other dogs and they are wary of strangers. They may bark at night. Socialization is absolutely essential for these dogs.
Height:
The Central Asian Shepherd Dog breed of dog stands 24 to 32 inches tall at the shoulder.
Weight:
These dogs usually weigh between 88 and 176 pounds.
Exercise:
This is a working breed and they do require a great deal of daily exercise to avoid behavior problems. If you lead an active lifestyle these dogs will be happy to enjoy it with you — they will be great as a hiking or jogging companion. At home they need a large fenced yard.

Grooming:
The grooming requirements for the Central Asian Shepherd Dog breed of dog are minimal. They require regular brushing. Nothing much sticks to their coats. However, they do have a heavy seasonal shed. Brush the coat more at this time to prevent extra hair in the house. Regular ear cleaning is always advised.
Origin:
The Central Asian Shepherd Dog breed of dog is believed to be several thousand years old and may be descended from the Tibetan Mastiff. The dogs are found in Russia and throughout central Asia in areas that are home to nomadic herdsmen and their flocks. The breed has been introduced to the United States and is in the American Kennel Club’s Foundation Stock Service program. They are also recognized by the FCI, the United Kennel Club and the American Rare Breed Association. Comments
