Breed Description:
The Cavanese breed of dog is said to be outgoing and happy. They are said to be very friendly and to make good companion dogs. Breeders say that the dogs often have a temperament like the Cavalier and are loving and more mellow than the Havanese.
Height:
These small dogs can stand from 8 1/2 to 13 inches tall at the shoulder.
Weight:
The Cavanese breed of dog may weigh between 7 and 18 pounds.
Exercise:
These are small dogs but they can be quite active if they take after their Havanese parent. Dogs that are more like their Cavalier parent will be more sedate. However, in either case they will need some regular daily exercise.
Life Expectancy:
The lifespan of the Cavanese breed of dog is between 9 and 15 years.
Grooming:
Grooming requirements will partly depend on whether the individual dog looks more like the Cavalier parent or the Havanese parent since it will affect coat type. Dogs should be brushed regularly to prevent matting. Regular ear cleaning is also necessary to prevent ear infections.
