Cats and Schedules

Stay Ahead of Schedule

Cats are generally quiet, independent creatures. Unlike dogs, you will not have to worry about your cat barking or jumping up on visitors. This gives them a leg up should you coexist with a person or people who are not into animals. In order to maintain a happy environment, stay ahead of the daily schedule. That means never missing a litter box cleaning or feeding.

By maintaining a pristine litter box, you will eliminate the chance for unappealing scents or messes to be noticed by others. A clean litter box will also encourage your cat to relieve itself there and nowhere else. Also consider where you place the litter box. Avoid keeping it in an area frequented by your roommate or places reserved for eating. A bathroom or laundry room is a good choice. If your space is limited, consider leaving the litter box in your bedroom. That way your roommate never has to lay eyes on it, let alone observe your pet using it.

Feeding on time is also important. Although this is a more pleasant activity, a cat may become restless if it is not fed on schedule. This could lead to your cat pawing or meowing at your roommate, who may not find it nearly as cute as you do. Stay on top of things by feeding on time.  This will also help your cat stick to a bathroom schedule so you know exactly when the litter box will need scooped.
