Cats and Confinement

A Confined Kitty

Be courteous of your roommate. After all, despite their dislike of animals (or cats in general) they are agreeing to live with your pet.  Although you may not like it, this could mean confining your feline. Avoid allowing your cat access to areas that belong strictly to your roommate (such as their sleeping area). If they have visitors, consider closing your cat into a separate room so there is no feline intrusion on the event.

In order to keep your cat entertained, offer a variety of toys. You may even select a few favorite play things that are only offered during these times. Your cat will enjoy the ‘rare’ toy and remain stimulated for the duration of confinement. This will also make him or her less likely to scratch and meow at the door.  If the event will last a long while, make sure your cat has access to water and a litter box and be sure to check in every now and again.
